Dear Friends

These are days of sadness in the US as funerals are held for the children and teachers murdered in Connecticut

Fr Joseph Girzone wrote a beautiful reflection on this tragedy

Yesterday I used that reflection at a doubly sad funeral service:
the placing of a 14 year old girl's ashes in the same place where her younger sister's ashes were placed six years ago. The younger sister had died as a baby of six months

As the plaque covering the hole in the wall was opened to take the second lot of ashes, it was like re-opening a most painful wound in the hearts of the girls' mother, father, brother and other relatives

Fr Girzone's words reminded us that the girls are always with the family, "just through the veil"

This Christmas will be a sad one for the US families and the family above, but may Christmas do what it usually does: give peace to the most troubled hearts and situations

Today's editorial in Ming Pao is entitled
Economic Considerations in Sino-Japanese Relations.
It can be accessed, together with my recording, at this site, from about midday today HK time to late evening HK time

On this 19th of the month, Jesus please bless the people of Shanxi
(Please join me in praying for one part of China each day of the month)

My Reading-Reflection-Prayer menu for today.
Let's use this menu to help us prepare for Christmas, despite sadness and trouble

Thank you for a prayer

God bless!
