"The rite for the burial of the dead should
express more clearly the paschal character of Christian death,
and should correspond more closely to the circumstances and traditions found in
various regions.
This holds good also for the liturgical color to be used."
Re the liturgical color:
It was so sensible of Vatican II
to recognize that colors are not universal
e.g. In Western countries, red is a symbol of
blood/martyrs.
But in many Asian countries, red is a symbol of rejoicing and happiness,
which is why in HK priests at Chinese Masses
use Red at Christmas and other happy times (.... not white, a symbol of death)
Jesus, may your Church have the
wisdom
not to impose one culture's values on another culture
