From its earliest history, the Church has prayed for the dead.
From its earliest history, the Church has specially honored
those who died for the faith, the martyrs,
together with the Blessed Virgin Mary, the angels and other saints
- asking the help of their intercession in Heaven

The lives of the saints inspire us to follow Jesus with more courage,
to try to become more like Jesus, just as the saints did

During the Eucharist we are most closely united
with the saints, great and small, in Heaven

Mary, Joseph, and all saints in Heaven,
especially our deceased relatives and friends,
thank you for praying for us!
