"May all those who are weighed down with poverty,
infirmity and sickness,
as well as those who must bear various hardships or who suffer persecution for
justice sake
— may they all know they are united with the suffering Christ in a special way
for the salvation of the world."
True. But also true are the express commands contained in
Jesus' words:
- "I was hungry and sick and you helped/visited me"
- "heal the sick"
- "blessed are those who hunger and thirst for justice"
Injustice and poverty are evils to be fought, even though "the poor will always be among you"
Sickness is something to be healed (except at the end of an
elderly life).
Jesus regarded sickness as a foe - "he rebuked the fever"
Never once did Jesus say "no" to someone who asked
for healing.
Never once did Jesus say sickness is a cross to be carried

Jesus, you healed the people who were
sick.
Jesus, please heal my sick friends.....
