Dear Friends
Yesterday morning at Lo Wu Prison (Good Friday service) and then in the afternoon at Lai Chi Kok reception centre I used Pope Francis' words from his Holy Thursday Mass at a detention centre: "Don't let anyone steal your hope"...and may Jesus' Cross and Resurrection give us hope
By yesterday afternoon, inmates had seen TV coverage of Francis washing inmates' feet ....profoundly impressed
Over
the past week, I've tried to do a lot of foot washing ...10 minute ceremony in
may day rooms, with groups of 6 - 20 men at a time,
inspired by Pope's foot washing
I was wrong about him washing two feet ...just one.
But
how does he then kiss the foot?!
I couldn't come at it this year.
Washing ok, but not kissing.
Maybe next year!?
