Dear Friends

Last Wednesday a Canossian sister and two lay women joined me for four short Christmas gatherings for four groups of Chinese female inmates at Hei Ling Chau Island drug treatment center

We got the groups singing a few simple Christmas songs, and used the Simple Bible: Gospels (Chinese edition) for some readings about the birth of Jesus

The women, some of them still teenagers, were most appreciative, and nearly all of them requested a personal copy of  Simple Bible: Gospels

Our hope is that the Bible will help give the women the motivation to rebuild their lives ...and not return to the center for more treatment (which is all too common)

What applies to the women applies to the wider world and the whole Church: any rebuilding of human/family/Christian values in today's world urgently needs the Word of God as a foundation.

No foundation, no building....or rebuilding

Let's keep up our resolution to give a few minutes to Bible reading each day....using a program something like this one:

My Reading-Reflection-Prayer menu for today.
Let's use this menu to help us remember God and God's values today

On this 14th of the month, Jesus please bless the people of Jilin
