Dear Friends
Yesterday
at Mass when I was giving out Communion, one of the communicants was a lady with
a very tiny baby strapped to her chest.
As I gave the lady Communion I said "Congratulations". She said
"Thank you"
After Mass as I stood at the door to farewell people, two more tiny babies appeared, one strapped to father, one to mother. Parents had not been in my Communion line, so my first time to see them. These tinies were Peter and Paul, identical twins, two months old. Babies very first time to come to church
I invited P&P to meet the other new baby....only to find the other new baby also had a twin, attached to father who had not been in my Communion line
Two sets of new twins on one morning! A happy gathering. Second set only five days old...came out of hospital last night! I said to the parents they could have been excused from Mass so soon. They said "We wanted to give thanks for healthy babies"
Contrast the above with this article on today's menu....about Japan now having more deaths than births...heading for a time soon when there will be more 100 year olds than new babies....a trend being followed by so many developed countries
