Dear Friends
In
more than 70 countries, today is Father's Day.
Happy Father's Day!
In
Hong Kong as elsewhere, Mother's Day is really important.
But Father's Day?????!
Must
say I never really appreciated my father's goodness and greatness
until I left home at the age of 18 to go to the seminary
Then
as I began to reflect on his life, I felt ashamed I had not appreciated him
better in the past
(c.f. common theme in many movies of 50s, 60s...the father an object of
ridicule)
As
the years went on, I was able to obtain Dad's letters and poems.
Also a recording of him reciting some poetry (from memory)...made by priests at Iona College
in Brisbane...
something I never thought of doing...something for which I'll always be grateful
to Frs P. O'D and M. McM!
Letters,
poems and some photos are here

The
kind estate office lady, Cheng Yuk Ping ("Yuki"),
who helped me find and rent a room that is now the Ricci Centre in Jordan,
is now doing a second job (to support her family)
...guess you can say she's a "double agent"?!)
...selling insurance to Mainland customers...for Prudential Assurance Co.
If any friends on the Mainland (who don't go in for risky Mainland insurance)
would like more info, please call Yuki directly: (852) 6558 6461
On this
17th of the month,
Jesus please bless
the people of Shaanxi
(Please join me in praying for one
part of China each day of the month)
My Bible Plan for today = The readings for the 11th Sunday of the Year
Thank you for a prayer
God bless!
