O Holy Spirit, please guide me as I read these passages for today. 
May these passages give me hope, strength, wisdom, courage and peace for my daily life 

King Ahab wanted the vineyard of Naboth,
but Naboth refused to sell his ancestral inheritance.

Ahab's wife Jezebel then had Naboth murdered
and Ahab took the vineyard.

The prophet Elijah  confronted Ahab for his crime.
Ahab then repented of his crime.

Dear God, please help us respect other people's property

Praise the name of the Lord,
praise him, servants of the Lord.

Praise the Lord for he is good.
Sing a psalm to his name for he is loving.

I know the Lord is great. He does whatever he wills
in heaven, on earth, in the seas.

Pagan idols are silver and gold,
the work of human hands.

They have mouths but they cannot speak.
They have eyes but they cannot see.

Sons of Israel, do not trust in useless idols.
Sons of Aaron, trust only in our Creator and Lord.

Dear Lord, please help people who worship idols 
to know and love you

Timothy, my son, as I give you advice for practical issues, 
remember how the church elders prayed over you that you would be a good leader

My first bit of advice is that there should be prayers offered for everyone, 
especially for kings and others in authority, so that we can live our life of faith in peace and quiet

God wants everyone to be saved and reach full knowledge of the truth

There is only one God, and there is only one mediator between God and humanity, himself a man, Christ Jesus, who sacrificed himself as a ransom for everyone

In every place, I want believers to lift up their hands in reverent prayer

God our Father, through Jesus your Son, I ask a blessing on the leaders of our world,
especially the leaders of my own country

One Sabbath day Jesus went for a meal to the house of a religious leader.
In the house Jesus saw a man with dropsy

Jesus asked the leaders present there "Is it against the Law to cure a man on the Sabbath?"
But they remained silent

Jesus took the man, healed him, and sent him away.
Then Jesus said to the leaders "Which of you here, if his son falls into a well,
will not pull him out on a Sabbath day?"
Again  the leaders remained silent

Jesus, help me understand that "the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath"
