O Holy Spirit, please guide me as I read these passages for today. 
May these passages give me hope, strength, wisdom, courage and peace for my daily life 

Before King David died, he encouraged his son Solomon
to love the Lord with all his heart and soul.

Solomon executed his main enemies and rivals,
including Adonijah who had again plotted to become king.

Solomon then was secure and safe as king

Dear God, thank you for the life of David
who, despite his faults, loved you with all his heart

I call to the  Lord in the hour of my distress:
"Lord save me from people who speak with lying lips".

Long enough have I been dwelling with those who hate peace.
I am for peace, but they are for fighting.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains.
From where shall come my help?

My help shall come from the Lord
who made heaven and earth.

The Lord is our guard and our shade.
Day and night we shall not be afraid.

The Lord will guard our going and coming
both now and forever.

Lord, please protect us from danger, day and night

We urge you and appeal to you in the Lord Jesus
to make more and more progress in the kind of life you are meant to live

God wants you to be holy. He wants you to keep away from fornication

Live life peacefully. Get a decent job and earn your living

Jesus, make me be a better person, a better Christian

To test Jesus, a religious leader asked him in public
"Master, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

Jesus replied "What does the Law say?"

He replied "You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, 
and you must care for others as much as you care about yourself"

"You are correct", said Jesus, "do this and life is yours"

Jesus,  help me to love you with all my heart....and to care for others as much as I care about myself
