Joshua 5

The kings  of the Jordan area
heard that the Lord had dried up the Jordan's waters
to let the Israelites cross over.
The kings became very afraid of the Israelites.

At Gilgal near the Jordan
the Lord instructed Joshua
that all un-circumcised men should be circumcised.

It was at Gilgal that the Israelites kept the Passover Feast
and tasted the produce of the land.

As soon as the Israelites tasted the produce of the land,
the manna stopped falling.

Dear God, thank you for all you did for the Israelites

Psalms 35 - 37

O Lord, please save me from people who slander me,
you who rescue the weak from the strong,

you whose love is so precious,
you in whose light we see light.

We believe that if we find our delight in you,
you will grant our heart's desire.

And so we commit our lives to you,
confident you will help us in time of trouble.

Lord, please deepen our trust in you, especially in time of trouble

Galatians 1

The Good News I preach is not a human message.
It is something I received from Jesus Christ

I used to persecute the church, but then God called me to follow Jesus

I am  a one-time persecutor who is now preaching the faith I had previously tried to destroy

When I visited Jerusalem three years after my conversion,
the believers gave glory to God for what he had done for me

Jesus, please turn more persecutors into preachers!

Mark 14

Peter went to the place where the religious leaders had Jesus on trial.
A young woman in the courtyard of the place  said to him
"You were with Jesus, the man from Nazareth"

Peter replied "I don't know what you're talking about"

Peter went to the gateway of the place,
where the woman saw him again and said to people around her
"This man is one of them". Peter denied it

Not long after this a group of people said to Peter
"You are his friend. We can tell by your Galilean accent".
Then Peter even more strongly replied "I do not know the man"

At that very moment, a rooster crowed.
Peter remembered Jesus' words
"Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times".
 Peter then wept loudly

Jesus, please help me not to deny you.  Give me courage to say "I am a Christian"
