Exodus 3

The Israelites begged God to free them from slavery in Egypt .

God heard their cry and called Moses
to be their leader.

God appeared to Moses in a burning bush and said to him
"I am the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
I have heard the prayers of my people in Egypt .
I now send you to Pharaoh to win the freedom of my people."

Moses asked what was God's name.
God replied 'I Am who I Am.
Tell the people "I Am  has sent me to you".'

Dear God, God of life, God of Abraham, we praise you Lord.

Psalm 72

O Lord, please bless the king,
that he might serve your people with justice.

May the mountains bring forth peace for the people
and the hills, justice.

The kings of Sheba and Seba bring him gifts.
All nations will serve him.

He will save the poor when they cry for help
and the needy who are helpless.

He will have pity on the weak
and save the lives of the poor.

May every tribe be blessed in him.
May every nation bless his name.

May all the nations know and love you, Lord

Acts 16

In the town of Lystra,  Paul recruited Timothy,
whose mother was a Jewish Christian and whose father was Greek

As they visited one town after another,
they announced the decisions taken in Jerusalem about what Jewish practices to follow

The local churches continued to grow strong in faith as well as grow in numbers

One night Paul had a vision: a Macedonian appeared and said
"Come across to Macedonia and help us".
We
(Luke was now with Paul) immediately crossed the sea to Macedonia

Jesus, if someone asks me for help, may I say yes

Matthew 15

Some religious leaders asked Jesus
"Why do your disciples ignore many external practices of our religion?"

Jesus answered, with the words of the prophet Isaiah:
"This people honors me with external lip-service,
while their hearts are far from me."

Jesus also said
"It's not certain foods or lack of washing  that makes a person unclean.
It's evil in the  heart that makes a person unclean.

Evil intentions like murder, adultery, fornication, theft, perjury, slander.
These are the things that make a person unclean."

Jesus, please  clean my heart
