Genesis 45

When Joseph realized his older brothers
were sorry for having sold him as a slave
he was overcome and started crying loudly.

He told his brothers "I  am your brother Joseph
whom you sold into Egypt.
God sent me here to provide food for you".

He hugged all his brothers and talked with them.
Joseph told his brothers to bring their father
and their families to Egypt
since the famine would last for five more years.

Pharaoh was pleased that Joseph's brothers had come
and warmly invited them to live in Egypt.

The brothers returned to Canaan.
They told their father that Joseph was alive.
Their father Jacob was overcome with joy.

Dear God, please help separated family members
 to be re-united again

Psalm 51

Have mercy on me, God, in your kindness,
and cleanse me of my sin.

My offences truly I know them.
What is evil in your sight I have done.

But in my defence please don't forget
that sinfulness is part of the human condition, part of our DNA.

A pure heart create for me, O God.
Put a steadfast spirit within me.

Give me again the joy of your help.
With a spirit of fervor sustain me.

Lord,  you will not spurn a humbled, contrite heart

Acts 13

Paul and Barnabas went to another Antioch, Antioch in Pisidia.
Out of jealousy, the local Jewish leaders there
stopped Paul from preaching to the Jewish community

Paul and Barnabas then turned their attention to non-Jewish people,
and so the word of the Lord spread through the whole countryside

But the Jewish leaders kept up their campaign,
and had Paul and Barnabas expelled from Pisidia

Jesus, please don't let Gospel workers be expelled

Matthew 13

Jesus said to the people:

The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed.
It's the smallest of all seeds.
But it becomes a big bush,  then a big tree that the birds live in.

The kingdom of heaven is like yeast which leavens flour.

The kingdom of heaven is like  treasure in a field.
Someone finds it, then sells all they have to buy the field.

The kingdom of heaven is like a fishing net that catches all sorts of fish.
Good fish are put in a basket. Useless fish are thrown away.
So at the end of time, bad people will be thrown into hell.

Jesus, may your kingdom come, your will be done
