Genesis 35,36

God said to Jacob "Go to Bethel and live there."
so Jacob moved to the area of Bethel.

Not long after this,
Rachel conceived another baby.

But Rachel died in childbirth.
Jacob named the baby boy Benjamin.

In all, Jacob had 12 sons:
Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar and Zebulun
 - their mother being Leah;
Joseph and Benjamin
- their mother being Rachel;
Dan and Naphtali
- their mother being Bilhah;
Gad and Asher
- their mother being Zilpah.

Jacob and his family stayed in the land of Canaan,
the land of his father Isaac.

Esau and his family moved to the land of Edom.

Dear God, please bless and protect my brothers and sisters

Psalm 34

I will bless the Lord at all times,
his praise always on my lips.

In the Lord my soul shall make its boast,
the humble shall hear and be glad.

Glorify the Lord with me, together let us praise his name.
I sought the Lord and he answered me.
From all my terrors he set me free.

The angel of the Lord is encamped around those who revere the Lord,
to rescue them.

Taste and see that the Lord is good.
They are happy who seek refuge in him.

The Lord is close to the broken-hearted.
Those whose spirits are crushed he will save.

Lord, by our Bible reading and prayer,
 may we taste and see your goodness each day

Acts 8

The apostles in Jerusalem heard that people in Samaria had accepted the word of God. Peter and John went to Samaria to pray for the Samaritans to receive the Holy Spirit.

So far the Samaritans had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
The Holy Spirit had not come down on them

When Peter and John prayed over them with the laying on of hands,
the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit

Come Holy Spirit. Come down on me.
Please help me understand the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation

Matthew 10

Many men followed Jesus as "fishers of men", as "disciples".
Jesus chose 12 of them and called them "apostles":

Peter and his brother Andrew; Zebedees' sons James and John;
Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew;
James son of Alphaeus; Thaddaeus, Simon and Judas.

Jesus sent them to prepare his way by visiting the places he would go.
He gave them power to cast out evil spirits and to heal all kinds of sicknesses.
He said to them:

Proclaim that the kingdom of heaven is near. Cure the sick.
Raise the dead. Cleanse lepers. Cast our devils.

Jesus, please help all Christians to be apostles and fishers of people
