Genesis 22

Abraham loved God very dearly.

Once when God put him to the test
Abraham was even willing to sacrifice his only son Isaac
if that was what God wanted.

When God saw Abraham's love and obedience
God renewed his promise
to make Abraham and Isaac's descendants
as many as the stars of heaven

Dear God, please help us love and obey you

Psalms 20, 21

May the Lord protect and help you,
may he give you your heart's desire
and fulfil every one of your plans.

Some trust in chariots or horses,
but we trust in the Lord.

Lord, may our plans and hopes be acceptable to you.
Please bless  our plans

Acts 4

The apostles continued to witness to the resurrection
of the Lord Jesus with great power

The whole group of believers was united, heart and soul. They willingly shared everything they had with people who were in need

Joseph was a Temple minister who had been born in Cyprus. He sold a field  he owned, and gave the proceeds to the apostles. The apostles called him "Barnabas" ("Son of Encouragement")

Jesus, help me to be more caring and sharing

Matthew 8

In Jesus' time, it was illegal for anyone to touch a leper,
and it was illegal for lepers  to go near other people.

But one day a leper broke the law.
He came right up to Jesus and said
"If you want to, you can heal me."

Jesus also broke the law.
He stretched out his hand, touched the leper,
and said "Of course I want to heal you. Be healed!"

The man was healed immediately.

Jesus, I didn't know you were a law-breaker.  I guess this means that sometimes, in special cases,  it's ok to break the law
