This plan follows the Sunday liturgy:    reading + psalm + reading + gospel            From www.simplebible.info

O Holy Spirit, please guide me as I read these passages for today.
May these passages give me hope, strength, wisdom, courage and peace for my daily life

January 12, 2012

Genesis 17

God appeared to Abraham and said to him
"I will make an everlasting covenant with you and your descendants.

As a sign of this covenant, all your males must be circumcised.
Baby boys must be circumcised when they are eight days old.

Also, Sarah your wife, even though she is old, will bear you a son.
You will name him Isaac."

Dear God,  please bless all the babies in the world

Psalms 9 - 13

I will praise you , Lord, with all my heart.
You have so often rescued me from trouble. Thank you!

You are the best helper for people in trouble.
Please keep on helping me when troubles come.

Please stop bad people from hurting others.
Please let peoples in all countries know
they must avoid evil and live a life of justice.

Dear Lord,  thank you for so often rescuing me

Acts 3

When people saw the former crippled man walking, they couldn't believe their eyes. So Peter said to them "Why are you so surprised?
Do you think John and I made this cripple walk?

It is by our faith in Jesus that this man has been restored to health.

Jesus is the Holy One, the Just One, the Prince of Life whom you handed over to Pilate for crucifixion. But God raised him from the dead

Jesus, Prince of Life, please increase my faith in you. Please
give me a faith that can bring your  healing to handicapped people

Matthew 6

Jesus said to the crowds:

When you do a good deed,
do it for its own sake, not just to get people to praise you.

When you pray, love to pray in private in your heart.
Don't be looking for people to notice and praise you.

When you pray, there's no need to rave on and on.
God is not deaf. Prayer is not a lawyer arguing a case.
Prayer is a child speaking with simple trust like this:

Our Father in heaven,
may everyone love and honor you.

Your kingdom come.
Your will be done on earth as in heaven.

Thank you for enough food for today.
Forgive us as we forgive others.

Save us in time of trial.
Protect us from evil

Jesus,  help me remember that each time I pray "The Our Father",
you are praying with me. "Your Father = my Father = our Father"
