Reading:  One Kings 2

Before King David died, he encouraged his son Solomon
to love the Lord with all his heart and soul.

Solomon executed his main enemies and rivals,
including Adonijah who had again plotted to become king.

Solomon then was secure and safe as king.

Reflection:
In some circumstances, society needs to have a "one strike and your out" policy, but it's interesting how God did not have such a policy towards David (adultery; murder) or towards Paul (persecution to death of Christians), or Peter (denial of Jesus)

Prayer: Dear God, thank you for the life of David
who, despite his faults, loved you with all his heart

Reading:  Psalms 109-110

O God whom I praise, do not be silent,
for people are bombarding me with words of hate.

They speak to me with lying tongues
and attack me without cause.

They repay me evil for good.
While I pray for them,  they show me hatred.

I have become an object of scorn.
Help me, Lord my God.

Reflection:
When people send words of hate in our direction, let's do what Jesus on the Cross did: send words of forgiveness in the direction of Heaven.

Prayer:  Lord, when people are unkind to me,
please give me the grace to pray for them

Reading:  Revelation 20

Then I saw God sitting on a great white throne

I saw the dead, both great and small, standing in front of his throne, while the Book of Life was opened, in which was the record of everyone's life

Everyone was judged according to the way they had lived

Then Death and Hades were thrown into a burning lake.
This burning lake is the second death

Anyone whose name could not be found in the Book of Life
was thrown into the burning lake

Reflection:
Wikipedia: The Book of Life  &  The second death

Prayer: Jesus, may all near and dear to me, be in the Book of Life

Reading:  Matthew 9

As Jesus walked along, two men who had become blind
followed after him calling out  "Son of David, please help us".

Jesus asked them "Do you believe I can help you?"
They said "Yes we do".

Then Jesus touched their eyes and said
"Your request made in faith is granted".

Immediately they were able to see again.
They told everyone they met  what Jesus had done for them.

Reflection:
Once again, a link between faith and healing

Prayer:
Jesus, heal my friend (..name..) who is blind
