  Reading:  Numbers 12

Miriam, the sister of Moses and Aaron,
started complaining against Moses.

So God called Moses, Aaron and Miriam
to the Sacred Tent.

God said: "Moses is at home in my house
and I speak with him face to face.
You were wrong to speak against my servant Moses".

When God finished speaking
Miriam had become a leper.

Moses pleaded with God for Miriam.
Miriam was exiled from the camp for seven days
and then the leprosy left her

Reflection:
Can I get through one day without complaining about someone?

Prayer: Dear God, please help me not to complain so much about other people

Reading: Psalm 118

Give thanks to the Lord for he is good.
His love has no end.

Let the sons of Israel say:
"His love has no end."

Let those who honor the Lord say:
"His love has no end."

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.

I was falling, falling, falling,
but the Lord was my helper.

The Lord is my strength and my song.
He is my saviour.

The Lord's right hand has triumphed.
His right hand has raised me up.

I shall not die, I shall live
and recount all his deeds.

The stone which the builders rejected
has become
the corner stone.

This is the work of the Lord,
a marvel in our eyes.

This day was made by the Lord.
We rejoice and are glad.

Reflection:
Jesus was a "rejected stone" who became a "corner stone".
Here are 50 other people who became successful after being rejected

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the times when "failure has been the mother of success"

Reading:  1 Timothy 3

To want to be a presiding elder is to want to do a noble work.
That is why the president must be above reproach:

He must not have been married more than once. He must be temperate, discreet, courteous, hospitable, a good teacher, not a heavy drinker, not hot-tempered, but kind and peaceable

He must not be a lover of money. He must be a man who manages his family well and brings up his children well.

How could anyone who can't manage his own  family
be given responsibility to manage God's family?

He should not be a new convert in case he becomes full of pride

The Church of the living God is God's family.
The Church is the guardian of the truth

Reflection:
"Presiding elder" here can be understood as "priest". Notice that the elders were mature married men. Very different from recent (current?) practice of immature single men. Which is why many people hope the Catholic Church will go back to the mature married model. Would also solve the "vocation crisis".

Prayer: Jesus, please give the Church mature leaders

Reading:  Luke 18

A young man from a prominent family asked Jesus "What must I do to inherit eternal life?"

Jesus replied "You know the commandments: you must not commit adultery, you must not kill, you must not steal, you must honor your father and mother"

The man answered "I have kept all these commandments all my life"

Jesus then said "There is still one higher goal: sell all you own,
give the money to the poor, then come follow me"

But when the man heard this he was very sad, because he was very rich

Reflection:
Francis of Assisi was from a prominent rich family. He said "yes" to Jesus'  invitation

Prayer: Jesus, please help me follow you the way you want me to follow you
