  Reading:  Numbers 1-5

A census was taken of all the men aged twenty years and above.
The twelve tribes were  told to
pitch their tents all around the Sacred Tent site.
Each time they moved to a new place and pitched their tents,
they would do so in the place allocated to each tribe.

Reflection:
Not easy these days with high rents and prices, but in the past some Christians (like my dear mother) had the habit of trying to find a home near good transport ... and not too far from a church

Prayer: Dear God, may our homes never be too far from a church

Reading: Psalms 111

I will thank the Lord with all my heart.
Great are the works of the Lord,
to be pondered by all who love him.

His goodness stands firm for ever.
The Lord is compassion and love.

His precepts are for all peoples and all times.
He is to be honored by all nations.

To love and honor the Lord
is the beginning of wisdom.

Reflection:
Wisdom can't be obtained from a supermarket or downloaded from the internet.
It has only one source: God.  Just like genuine sunshine has only one source: the sun

Prayer:  Dear Lord, source of wisdom, please help me to love and honor you every day

Reading:  2 Thessalonians 2

Regarding the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,
don't be deceived by wild speculation

Stand firm in your faith and avoid speculation

Keep the traditions we taught you, whether by word of mouth or by letter

May God strengthen you in everything good you do or say

Reflection:
Even in the time of the apostles, some people where spreading false ideas, incorrect information. If are hearts and minds are attuned to the Scriptures, we will quickly notice music that is "off-key" - this is the point of the above words "stand firm....keep the traditions...don't be deceived"

Prayer: Jesus, stop people spreading false information

Reading:  Luke 15

Jesus told this story: a man had two sons. The younger said
to his father "Father, give me the share of the estate that would
come to me"

So the father divided his property between them.
A few days later, the younger son left for a distant land where he wasted his money in wild living

When he had used all his money, that country had a severe famine, and he began to feel the pinch, so he got a job on a farm  feeding  pigs. He would willingly have eaten the pigs' food, but no one offered him anything

Then he came to his senses and said "How many of my father's paid
servants have more food than they want, and I am dying of hunger
I will leave this place and go to my father and say: Father, I have
sinned against heaven and against you. I no longer deserve to be
called your son. Treat me as one of your paid servants."
So he left the place and went back to his father

While he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was moved
with pity. He ran to the boy, clasped him in his arms and kissed him
tenderly. Then the son said "Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I no longer deserve to be called your son"

But the father said to his servants "Quick! Bring out the best robe
and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.
Bring the calf we have been fattening, and kill it. We are going to
have a feast, a celebration, because this son of mine was dead and has come back to life. He was lost and is found."

Prayer:
Jesus, please help me understand how much you love me,
no matter what mistakes I make
