  Reading:  Leviticus 26-27

God's words through Moses:
"If you  keep my commandments
I will bless you in every way:

- you will have rain at the right time
- the earth shall give its produce
- your land will know peace
- you will be fruitful and multiply
- I will be in your midst: I will be your God
and you shall be my people.

But if you ignore my words and break my commandments
- you will have no peace
- there will be no rain
- the earth shall not yield its produce
- sickness and pestilence will afflict you
- you will be scattered among the nations".

Reflection:
Is there a link between human behaviour and rainfall?
Climate change facts certainly say so

Prayer: Dear God,  please help us follow a lifestyle that does not harm our planet

Reading: Psalms 109-110

O God whom I praise, do not be silent,
for people are bombarding me with words of hate.

They speak to me with lying tongues
and attack me without cause.

They repay me evil for good.
While I pray for them,  they show me hatred.

I have become an object of scorn.
Help me, Lord my God.

Reflection:
When people send words of hate in our direction, let's do what Jesus on the Cross did: send words of forgiveness in the direction of Heaven.

Prayer:  Lord, when people are unkind to me,
please give me the grace to pray for them

Reading:  2 Thessalonians 1

From Paul, Silvanus and Timothy to the Church in Thessalonika:
grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ

We take special pride in you because of your perseverance,
despite persecutions and other troubles you have to face

People who refuse to accept the Good News are facing an eternal penalty
to be excluded forever from the presence of the Lord

So we pray that God will help you be the sort of people he wants you to be. In this way our Lord Jesus Christ will be glorified in you

Reflection:
What does "refuse to accept the Good News" mean?
It means a rejection of God's love, a rejection of goodness, a rejection of good values, a rejection of truth, a rejection of compassion for others

Prayer: Jesus, please don't let anyone near and dear to me "refuse to accept the Good News"

Reading:  Luke 14

Jesus said to the meal guests "When you give a lunch or a dinner,
do not ask your friends, family, or rich neighbors

Rather, when you have a party, invite the poor, the crippled,
the lame, the blind

That they cannot repay you means you are fortunate,
because repayment will be made to you when the virtuous rise again"

Reflection:
Christmas is coming ....Christmas Dinner .....have we ever invited a poor person or poor family or poor group to be part of our Christmas celebrations?
Christmas Dinners with the poor

Prayer:
Jesus, may I help some poor people this Christmas
