  Reading:  Leviticus 19

God's words through Moses:

"Be holy, for I, the Lord your God, am holy.

Honor your father and mother.

The Sabbath must be a holy day.

When you collect from harvest or vine,
leave something for the poor and the stranger.

Be just, honest and truthful in your relationships.

Do not let hatred live in your heart".

Reflection:
The above words can be summed up as "love God and care for others".
The above words remind us that love of God and care for others is not just a theory, but something that needs to be put into practice

Prayer:
Dear God, please help me apply your words in my life

Reading: Psalm 105

Give thanks to the Lord,
make known his deeds among all the peoples.

O sing to him, sing his praise.
Tell all his wonderful works.

Be proud of his holy name.
Let hearts that seek the Lord rejoice.

Consider the Lord and his strength.
Constantly seek his face.

Never forget how the Lord has helped us in the past,
how he has protected Israel from its beginning till now.

Reflection:
One thing that helped the Jewish people to face the present and the future, was to remember the past. Especially when they were in big trouble, they would remember the goodness of God in their history.
Not that they "lived in the past". But with grateful hearts they daily meditated on God's goodness to them in the past, and this calmed their hearts, and gave courage to their hearts to face the fears and problems of the present and the future

Prayer: Dear God, please help me better understand how you have been loving and protecting me since the beginning of my life

Reading:  1 Thessalonians 4

You asked us about the situation of people who have died.
Do not mourn in an unhealthy way for them,
like people who have no hope

We believe that Jesus died and rose again, and that it will be the same for everyone who dies in God's friendship: God will give them life with Jesus. They will live in God's House for ever

With thoughts such as these you should comfort one another in times of mourning

Reflection:
Ohh...I'm dying! Is this what it feels like? It's nothing like I ever imagined. I feel so beautifully peaceful and calm.
I then had a sense of being encompassed by something that I can only describe as pure, unconditional love.....It was the deepest kind of caring, and I'd never experienced it before.

Prayer:
Jesus, please increase my faith in the life to come

Reading:  Luke 13

One Sabbath day Jesus was teaching in a prayer hall. There was a woman there who for 18 years had been possessed by a spirit which left her bent over and unable to stand up straight

When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said "Woman, you are rid of your infirmity" and he laid his hands on her. At once she was healed and could stand up straight, and she glorified God

Reflection:
“Bent over and unable to stand up straight”

Prayer: Jesus, please heal the people I know who are bent over and can't stand up straight
