  Reading:  Exodus 40

God said to Moses:

"On the first day of the first month,
consecrate and start using the Tent of Meeting.
Use chrism to anoint all the furnishings.
Anoint Aaron and his sons to serve me as priests."

Moses did everything that God asked.

Then a cloud covered the Tent
and the glory of God filled the sacred site.

At every stage of their  journey in the desert,
the Israelites would continue their march
whenever the cloud rose from the sacred site.

A fire shone within the cloud at night.

Reflection:
"Cloud" and "light" are symbols of the Holy Spirit:  (Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 697)

Cloud and light. These two images occur together in the manifestations of the Holy Spirit. In the theophanies of the Old Testament, the cloud, now obscure, now luminous, reveals the living and saving God, while veiling the transcendence of his glory - with Moses on Mount Sinai, at the tent of meeting, and during the wandering in the desert, and with Solomon at the dedication of the Temple. In the Holy Spirit, Christ fulfills these figures. the Spirit comes upon the Virgin Mary and "overshadows" her, so that she might conceive and give birth to Jesus. On the mountain of Transfiguration, the Spirit in the "cloud came and overshadowed" Jesus, Moses and Elijah, Peter, James and John, and "a voice came out of the cloud, saying, 'This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!'". Finally, the cloud took Jesus out of the sight of the disciples on the day of his ascension and will reveal him as Son of man in glory on the day of his final coming

Prayer:
Dear Holy Spirit, please be my guide on the daily journey of life

Reading: Psalm 98

Sing a new song to the Lord for he has worked wonders.
His right hand has brought salvation.

The Lord has made known his salvation.
He has shown his justice to the nations.

He has remembered his truth and love
for the house of Israel.

All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
Shout to the Lord all the earth, ring out your joy.

Sing psalms to the Lord with the harp,
with the sound of music.

Let the sea, the world and all peoples
acclaim the King, the Lord.

Let the rivers clap their hands
and the hills ring out their joy

at the presence of the Lord,
for he comes to rule the earth.

He will rule the world with justice
and the peoples with fairness.

Reflection:
God loves all peoples in all nations, just like parents love all their children.
All peoples/nations should love God, just like all children should love their parents

Prayer: Lord, may all peoples in all countries know your love and goodness

Reading:  Colossians 3

Wives and husbands, understand and support each other.
Children, be obedient to your parents.
Parents, treat your children fairly or else they will rebel

Slaves, be obedient and respectful to your owners.
Offer up your work to the Lord, our Heavenly Owner

Owners, be just and fair to your slaves. Remember your Heavenly Owner

Reflection:
Family life is under attack from many sides, with Japan giving a glimpse of a future without families, and governments re-defining the meaning of marriage

Prayer:
 Jesus, please protect family life

Reading:  Luke 11

Once when Jesus had finished praying in private, one of his disciples asked him "Lord, teach us to pray". Jesus replied "Pray like this:

Father, may everyone love and honor you.
Your kingdom come.
Thank you for enough food for today.
Forgive us as we forgive others.
Save us in time of trial"

Reflection:
When I pray the "Our Father" it's good to remember that I am not praying it by myself. Every time I pray the Our Father, Jesus is praying with me ...to "our" Father ....his Father and mine

Prayer:
Jesus, with you I now pray to the Father in the words that you taught us: "Our Father......"
