  Reading:  Exodus 31

God said to Moses:

"The Israelites must make the Sabbath a holy day each week,
because the Sabbath is a sign between you and me.

Do not do any ordinary work on the Sabbath.

Work for six days, then rest on the Sabbath.

Consecrate the Sabbath to me."

God's words were inscribed on two stone tablets.

Reflection:
These really lovely words by Pope John Paul II

Prayer:
Dear God, please help us to make Sunday a holy day

Reading: Psalm 90

O Lord you have been our refuge
from one generation to the next.

Before the earth or the world existed,
you are God, without beginning or end.

For you, a thousand years are like yesterday,
come and gone so quickly.

We humans have a short life,
our life is over like a sigh.

Our span is 70 years,
or 80 for those who are strong.

Make us know the shortness of our life,
that we may gain wisdom of heart.

In the morning, fill us with your love.
Give success to the work of our hands.

Reflection:
The words of this psalm on YouTube (a great recording which gets faster as it goes along)

Prayer: Lord, help us realize the shortness of our life,  that we may live our lives more wisely

Reading:  Colossians  1

Christ is the image of the unseen God.
In him were created all things.
All things were created through him and for him

Before anything was created, he existed.
He holds all things in unity

The Church is his body. He is its head

God wants all things to be reconciled through him
who brought peace by his death on the Cross

 Reflection:
Jesus reconciled Jews and pagans. He can reconcile any two people, any two groups, any two nations.   c.f. Christmas ....something in our hearts tells us to show more love, to be reconciled with others

Prayer:
Jesus, God the Son become man, may our world find reconciliation and peace in you

Reading:  Luke 9

One day Jesus asked his disciples
"Who do people say I am?"

The disciples replied "Some people say you are one of the famous prophets come back to life"

Jesus then asked them
"And what about you. Who do you say I am?"

Peter answered
"You are the Anointed One of God"

Reflection:
Peter, the simple fisherman, got the message.
The proud Pharisees missed the point

Prayer:
Jesus, please help more and more people know you and love you
