  Reading:  Exodus 7

Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh again
and showed him Aaron's staff changing into into a snake.

When Pharaoh's magicians were able to do the same thing
Aaron's staff swallowed up the magicians' staffs.

But Pharaoh's heart stayed stubborn
and he wouldn't listen to Moses and Aaron.

So God told Moses and Aaron to go to the river the next morning.
When they saw Pharaoh there Aaron struck the river with his staff
and the river and all water throughout Egypt turned into blood.

But Pharaoh still would not let the Israelites go.

Reflection:
Let my people go
from the movie Prince of Egypt

Prayer: Dear God, please soften stubborn hearts
that make life difficult for other people

Reading: Psalm 46

God is for us a refuge and strength,
in time of distress he is a helper close at hand.

Therefore we shall not fear even though the earth should rock,
even though the mountains fall into the sea.

The Lord of hosts is with us.
The God of Jacob is our stronghold.

Come and consider the works of the Lord
and always remember his words:

"Be still and know that I am God".

Reflection: (Two songs based on this psalm)
YouTube: A Mighty Fortress is our God   and  Be Still and Know that I am God

Prayer: Lord, please help me to be still and know that you are God

Reading:  Ephesians 4

I implore you to lead a life worthy of your vocation

Bear with one another charitably, in complete selflessness, gentleness and patience

If we live by the truth and in love, we shall become more and more like Christ

We are parts of the Body of Christ. Christ is the head. Each part must do its bit to keep the Body healthy and growing in love

Reflection:
Most people have a strong sense of loyalty to their family.
Christians should have a similarly strong sense of loyalty to the Church

Prayer: Jesus, help me understand how the Church is your Body

Reading:  Luke 5

In one town that Jesus went to, a leper fell on his face and pleaded "Sir, if you want to, you can heal me"

Jesus stretched out  his hand, touched him, and said "Of course I want to!  Be healed!"   And the leprosy left him at once

Jesus' reputation continued to grow.  Large crowds gathered to hear him speak and to have their sicknesses cured. But afterwards Jesus would always go to a quiet  place where he could be alone and pray

Reflection:
Never once did Jesus say "this sickness is your cross...go and carry it"

Prayer: Jesus, please help me understand
that you want sick people to be healed
