  Reading:  Exodus 3

The Israelites begged God to free them from slavery in Egypt.

God heard their cry and called Moses
to be their leader.

God appeared to Moses in a burning bush and said to him
"I am the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
I have heard the prayers of my people in Egypt.
I now send you to Pharaoh to win the freedom of my people."

Moses asked what was God's name.
God replied 'I am
I AM".
Tell the people "I AM  has sent me to you".'

Reflection:
Whatever form of physical, moral or psychological "slavery" we might be trapped in, we can call out to I AM to free us

Prayer: Dear God, God of life, God of Abraham, please free people trapped in any form of "slavery"

Reading: Psalm 40

I waited, I waited for the Lord and he stooped down to me.
He heard my cry.

He saved me from distress.
He put
fresh hope into my heart.

How many, O Lord my God, are the times you have helped me.
They are too many for me to describe.

My God, in the depth of my heart I delight in your law.
You do not want external offerings.
You want my heart.

Reflection:
Hope cannot be bought in a supermarket or downloaded from the internet.
Hope can be downloaded only from Heaven, from God.
Our Bible reading is one of the main ways of downloading
fresh hope each day

Prayer: Lord, please put fresh hope into my heart each day

Reading:  Ephesians 2

You non-Jews  were once without hope and without God

But now by the blood of Christ,
you who had nothing in common with us Jews,
have been united with us into one family

Christ is the peace between us.
He has broken down
the barrier which used to keep us apart

Reflection:
At the time of Paul, Jews and non-Jews were united into one family.
May we not dream that in our time Muslims, Jews and Christians can be united into one family?

Prayer:  Jesus,  break down  barriers of misunderstanding
which divide the peoples of the world

Reading:  Luke 4

Jesus went to Capernaum, a town in Galilee.
On the Sabbath day he taught in the local prayer hall

In the hall there was a man possessed by a devil which shouted "What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are: the Holy One of God"

Jesus said sharply "Be quiet! Come out of him".
And the devil left the man without hurting him

People in the hall said "He gives orders to unclean spirits and they obey him". Jesus' reputation continued to spread through the district

Reflection:
Some people say the above story is fiction, a story to teach a lesson.
But when you read books like Deliverance from Evil Spirits by Francis MacNutt, you tend to believe the above story is not fiction

Prayer: Jesus, please protect my family from evil
