Reading:  Genesis 1-2 (back to the start of The Book!)

God made the world.
God made  the sun, the moon  and the stars....the whole universe.
God said "Let there be light" and there was light.

God made the earth with all its plants and trees
and animals and fish and birds.

God made the first people.....the first man and first woman.
God made them in his own image and said to them
"Be fruitful, multiply and fill the earth."

God saw all that he had made, and all of it was good, very good

Reflection:
YouTube - Louis Armstrong - What a Wonderful World   (Lyrics)

Prayer:
Dear God, thank you for making such a beautiful world!

Reading: Psalm 135

Praise the name of the Lord,
praise him, servants of the Lord.

Praise the Lord for he is good.
Sing a psalm to his name for he is loving.

I know the Lord is great. He does whatever he wills
in heaven, on earth, in the seas.

Pagan idols are silver and gold,
the work of human hands.

They have mouths but they cannot speak.
They have eyes but they cannot see.

Sons of Israel, do not trust in useless idols.
Sons of Aaron, trust only in our Creator and Lord.

Reflection:
We should love our parents......and we should love our Creator.
Not to love our parents....a very sad situation.
Not to love God....the saddest of all situations

Prayer: Dear Lord, please help all peoples to know and love you

Reading:  1 Corinthians 3

You now have many people teaching you about Christ,
but remember that it was I who introduced you to Jesus and his Good News

Imitate my example, the way I live the Christian life

Reflection:
Who introduced me to Jesus?
My parents? A friend?  A book/magazine/website?

Prayer: Jesus, thank you for those who introduced me to you.
Please help me introduce you to others

Reading: Mark 10

The brothers James and John were two of Jesus' disciples.
One day their mother said to Jesus
"When you become king, allow my sons to sit at your right and left".

Jesus said to his cousins James and John
"Only my Father in heaven can allocate seats on my right and left".

The 10 other disciples were angry at James and John for seeking honor.  So Jesus said to them all  "In most places, people in power like to dominate and control others. But this is not to be your way of exercising authority.

You must exercise authority by serving others, not dominating them,
just as I came not to be served, but to serve,
and to give my life as a ransom for the world"

Reflection:
Wherever he goes, whenever he speaks, Pope Francis often quotes the above words:
we Christians, especially Christian leaders, must want to serve rather than be served
....and must exercise authority in a spirit of service, not in a spirit of domination

Prayer Jesus, please help me want to help and serve other people,
not dominate and control them
