  Reading:  Micah 1-4

In the future, the mountain of the Temple of the Lord
will be the most important place  in the world.

All nations will come to this place.
They will say:

Come, let us go up to the mountain of the of the Lord
so that he may teach us his ways
and we may walk in his paths.

Nations will not lift sword against nation.
There will be no more training for war.

Reflection:
The closer our friendship with God, the further our interest in warfare.
"War-mongering Christians", "War-mongering Jews", "War-mongering Muslims"
 - a contradiction in terms. No place for swords on the mountain of the Lord

Prayer:
Please, Lord, please stop nations fighting each other.
Please give peace to our world. May the so-called "defence lobby" be exposed for what it is: a money-making business

Reading: Psalm 130

Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord.
Lord, hear my voice.

If you, O Lord, should  record our guilt,
Lord, who would survive?

But with you is found forgiveness.
For this we revere you.

My soul is waiting for the Lord.
I count on his word.

My soul is longing for the Lord
more than watchman for the daybreak.

With the Lord there is mercy
and fullness of redemption.

Israel indeed he will redeem
from all its  iniquity

Reflection:
The good news: no matter how many mistakes, no matter how many sins, no matter how many times we go off the rails....God redeems us, picks us up and puts us back on the track

Prayer: Lord, please forgive me for all the bad things I have done

Reading:  1 Corinthians 1

I, Paul, appointed by God to be an apostle, send greetings to the church of God in Corinth. May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace

I never stop thanking God for all the graces you have received through Jesus Christ

The witness to Christ has been strong among you

God shares with us the life of his Son, Jesus.
God helps us to be faithful as followers of Jesus

I appeal to you to be united in belief and practice.
Put an end to the differences between you

Reflection:
An introduction to One Corinthians which points out that Paul's words about "church problems" in 1 Cor have a lot of relevance today

Prayer: Jesus, Son of God, please help Christians be united in belief and practice

Reading: Mark 10 & 9

Some people brought their little children to Jesus.
They hoped Jesus would  put his hands on the children and bless them.

Jesus' disciples told the people to go away and not bother Jesus.
But Jesus said "Don't stop the little children from coming to me".
Then he put his hands on them and blessed them.

Jesus also said "Anyone who welcomes one of these little children in my name, welcomes me. But anyone who causes scandal  to one of these little ones,
commits a great crime"

Reflection:
Children can form a genuine friendship with Jesus from their earliest days.
This friendship is one of the greatest gifts parents can give their children

Prayer
Jesus, please help all children to know you from their earliest days.
Please don't let parents prevent children from coming to you.
Please heal children who have been scandalized  by adults
