  Reading:  Hosea 5-6

God's message through Hosea:

Israel has forgotten its Maker.
The people worship idols made by human hands.

It is time to seek the Lord.
It is time to sow integrity and reap kindness.

Israel, come back to the Lord your God.
Have no more to do with idols made by human hands.

Reflection:
"
Israel has forgotten its Maker" can be replaced by
- Europe has forgotten its Maker
- North America has forgotten its Maker
etc
- Europe, come back to the Lord your God
- North America, come back to the Lord your God

Prayer:
Lord, please help nations which have forgotten you to come back to you

Reading:  Psalm 124

"If the Lord had not been on our side",
this is Israel's song.

If the Lord had not been on our side
when people rose against us,

then would they have swallowed us alive
when they were angry with us.

Blessed be the Lord who did not let us become
a prey for their teeth.

Our life, like a bird, has escaped
from the snare of the hunter.

Indeed the snare has been broken
and we have
escaped.

Our help is in the name of the Lord
who made heaven and earth.

Reflection:
Jesus helps us escape: from sorrow, from worry, from guilt, from anxiety, from sickness...and from death

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for all the times you have rescued me from trouble

Reading:  Romans 13

Let us stop our bad behavior of the past:
drunken orgies, immorality, quarreling, jealousy

Let us live good lives. Let the Lord Jesus protect and help us

Reflection:
Trying to be a good person means choosing what is good and avoiding what is bad

Prayer: God, please help us reject what is contrary to the Gospel
(Opening Prayer of 15th Sunday of the Year)

Reading: Mark 9

One day Jesus took his disciples Peter, James and John
up a high mountain.

On the mountain Jesus' whole appearance changed.
His face shone like the sun. His clothes were as white as snow.

Moses and Elijah appeared and spoke with him.
Peter said to Jesus "Lord, how good it is for us to be here!"

Then a bright cloud covered them with its shadow.
From the cloud came a voice:
"This is my Son, the Beloved. Listen to him."

The disciples bowed to the ground.
When they got up, they saw only Jesus in his normal appearance.

Reflection:
One of my favorite songs.

Prayer
Jesus, how good it is to spend time with you in prayer. May prayer time give us energy for our daily lives
...and remind us of the life to come in Heaven
