Readings for the 15th Sunday of the Year (C)

1st Reading:  God's word is to be put into practice now, today ...not in the far distant future

Responsorial Psalm (Ps 68):  Seeking to put God's word into practice revives our hearts

2nd Reading:  Reconciliation is not something for the future....it can be achieved today...in him who made peace by dying on the Cross

Gospel:  The time to be a Good Samaritan is not at some far distant date....but today

Reflection:
This moving homily of Pope Francis, of one week ago, has these words:
Today we have lost the sense of fraternal responsibility; we have fallen into the hypocritical attitude of the priest and of the servant of the altar that Jesus speaks about in the parable of the Good Samaritan: We look upon the brother half dead by the roadside, perhaps we think “poor guy,” and we continue on our way, it’s none of our business

Prayer:
Jesus, the "person by the road" is you. Please don't let me pass you by without helping you
