Readings for the 13th Sunday of the Year (C)
1st Reading: When you commit yourself to something, keep going, don't "look back"
Responsorial Psalm: The ultimate Something to which we should commit ourselves
2nd Reading: Keep going in the life of freedom, don't "look back" to a life of slavery
Gospel: Jesus did not "look back" ...he resolutely took the road for Jerusalem
Reflection:
Somone who, like Jesus, "kept
going" despite opposition, ridicule, persecution and suffering was
....Nelson Mandela. His story will be re-told many times in the coming
months: 27 years in prison, 27 years of longing and hoping and ...looking
forwards, not backwards! .....looking forward to a new South Africa, a nation of
reconciliation rather than revenge
Prayer:
Dear Jesus, please help me "keep
going", keep looking forwards, not backwards
