 Reading - Reflection - Prayer   June 27, 2013
With readers' comments, below

  Reading:  Ezekiel 12-18

Ezekiel spoke God's message for the false prophets:

"You have misled my people.
You have not bothered to protect my people".

Ezekiel also called on the people to stop their idolatry.
He reminded them how to follow the Lord:

- A good person is law-abiding and honest.
- A good person oppresses no one, never steals
- a good person gives food and clothing to the poor.

"God takes no delight in the death of a sinner.
God hopes the sinner will renounce wickedness and live."

Reflection:
Health is more important than wealth,
but being good is even more important

Prayer:
Lord, please help me to avoid evil.....and do more good

   Reading:  Psalm 107

O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.
His great love is without end.

Let them say this, those the Lord has helped,
people from east and west, north and south.

Some people wandered in the desert
lost and unable to find their way to safety.

In their hunger and thirst they cried to the Lord for help.
He rescued them and showed them the way to safety.

Let them thank the Lord for his love,
for he fills the hungry with good things.

Some people were prisoners in misery and chains,
living in darkness and gloom.

In their distress they cried to the Lord for help.
He rescued them and restored their freedom.

Let them thank the Lord for his goodness,
for he shatters the iron bars of prisons.

Some people were sick on account of their sins,
unable to eat,  and close to death.

They cried to the Lord in their need.
He healed them and saved them from the grave.

Let them thank the Lord for his love,
for the wonders he does for us.

Some people sailed to the sea in ships
and were caught in terrifying storms.

They cried to the Lord in their need
and he calmed the sea and wind.

Let them thank the Lord for his love,
for the wonders he does for us.

Whoever is wise should meditate on these things
and reflect on the love of the Lord.

Reflection:
Each of us can remember times when we were rescued/saved from physical/moral danger.
I remember being saved by a life-saver when caught in a rip while swimming.
I remember being protected from a dangerous car crash...by the action of another driver who saw I was making a big mistake while driving.
Times of rescue from moral danger also come to mind

Prayer:  Thank you Lord, for your rescuing love

Reading:  Romans 6

Do not let sin control your life.

Always remember which team you play for:
God's Grace Guys, not Satan's Sin Side

Playing for SSS is a recipe for death. Playing for GGG leads to eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord

Reflection:
May we be loyal not only to our family, our country....but also to our God

Prayer: Jesus, please help me remember I'm on your team

Reading: Mark 4

Jesus and his disciples got into a boat
to cross the lake.

Jesus was so tired that he went to sleep in the boat.
A sudden storm caused big waves to lash the boat.

Jesus' friends woke him up  and said
"Save us, Lord, we are sinking".

Jesus stood up, and ordered the wind and sea to be calm.
Straight away the wind and sea were calm.

Jesus' friends said to each other
"Who is this? Even the wind and sea obey him."

Reflection:
No storm is too big or too violent for Jesus.
And see this YouTube of  Elvis Presley singing:
Put your hand in the hand of the man who stilled the water

(after a quick advertisement)

Prayer: Jesus, please calm the storms in my life, my family, our world
