O Holy Spirit, please guide me as I read these passages for today.                     
May these passages give me hope, strength, wisdom, compassion, courage and peace for my daily life     Chinese text

  Reading:  Baruch 6

Because of your sins, you will be exiles in Babylon
for seven generations.

In Babylon   when you  see all sorts of idols being worshipped by the local people, say in your hearts:
"Master, it is you  we must worship."

Reflection: 
I have used these words when hospitality has required me to accompany people to Buddhist and other temples

Prayer: Lord, when we are places where people are worshipping idols, please help us remember to pray in our hearts:  "Master, it is you we  worship"

   Reading:  Psalm 105

Give thanks to the Lord,
make known his deeds among all the peoples.

O sing to him, sing his praise.
Tell all his wonderful works.

Be proud of his holy name.
Let hearts that seek the Lord rejoice.

Consider the Lord and his strength.
Constantly seek his face.

Never forget how the Lord has helped us in the past,
how he has protected Israel from its beginning till now.

Reflection:
One thing that helped the Jewish people to face the present and the future, was to remember the past. Especially when they were in big trouble, they would remember the goodness of God in their history.
Not that they "lived in the past".
But with grateful hearts they daily meditated on God's goodness to them in the past,
and this calmed their hearts, and gave courage to their hearts to face the fears and problems of the present and the future

Prayer: Dear God, please help me better understand how you have been loving and protecting me since the beginning of my life

Reading:  Romans 5

Through one man, Adam, the virus of sin entered the world, and sin infected everyone with death

Through one man, Jesus, the divine anti-virus of grace entered the world, and brought the gift of eternal life to everyone who allows it to be installed in their heart

The divine anti-virus of grace  is more powerful than any sin virus

Reflection:  
As so many drug addicts have experienced, the most powerful way to come off drugs is to get heavenly help.. Human help is not strong enough to combat a virus from Hell 

Prayer: Jesus, please download and install in my heart
your anti-virus program of grace

Reading: Mark 3     

Jesus went back to Capernaum. Such a crowd gathered that he could not even have a meal 

When his family  heard about such things,
they set out to take care of  him, thinking that he was crazy.

His mother and brothers arrived at the house. Standing outside, they sent in a message asking for him.

Jesus was told "Your mother and brothers and sisters are outside asking for you".  Jesus replied "Who are my mother and brothers?".

Then looking round at the people sitting in a circle about him, he said
"Here are my mother and my brothers. Anyone who does the will of God, that person is my brother and sister and mother".

Reflection:
Jesus' brothers and sisters thought he was crazy. 
Can we complain if sometimes our family or friends think we are crazy for upholding Christian values?

Prayer: Jesus, please help me to do your will, even if people sometimes think I'm crazy
