Reading:  Isaiah 5

My friend had a vineyard on a fertile hillside.
He planted choice vines in it and expected it to produce good grapes.
But it produced only sour grapes.

That vineyard is Israel. Its owner is the Lord.
That chosen plant is the people of Judah.

The Lord expected the people of Israel to produce justice.
But those people have produced only bloodshed and injustice.

Those people have no time to think about the Lord.
They have no interest in what he has done for them.

So they are consigning themselves to ruin.
The vineyard will be trampled on and become a waste.

Invaders will attack Israel.
The people of Israel will be taken into exile.
All because they rejected the Lord.

Reflection: 
A sad reality in today's world: many people "have no time to think about the Lord.
They have no interest in what he has done for them"

Prayer: Lord, please help more people know you and love you

 

Psalms 29, 30

The Lord gives us strength, the Lord blesses us with peace.

Thank you, Lord, for so often helping and healing me.
I cried to you when sickness surrounded me, and you healed me.

You  changed my mourning into dancing.
So I will thank you always.

Reflection:
King David, or whoever wrote these psalms, believed in Heavenly healing!

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for all the times you have healed me

 
Reading:  Acts 14

Paul and Barnabas went to another city, Iconium. 
As usual, their first stop was the local Jewish prayer hall. 
Many Jews became believers, as did many non-Jewish people

During their stay in Iconium, Paul and Barnabas preached fearlessly for the Lord. 
And the Lord supported them by allowing miracles to be worked by them

But their success again aroused opposition, and they were in danger of being stoned. 
So they went to Lycaonia and preached the Good News there

Reflection:
 Luke (the author of this book)...a doctor!....believed in miracles!
Prayer: Jesus, please help Gospel workers by allowing miracles to be worked by them
 
Reading:  Matthew 15

Jesus went up into the hills near the Lake of Galilee.
Large crowds came to him bringing
the lame, the crippled, the blind, the dumb and many others.

These they put down at Jesus' feet.
Jesus healed them all.

The crowds praised the God of Israel
when they saw the dumb speaking, cripples whole again,
the lame walking and the blind able to see.

Reflection: 
May the lame, crippled, blind and dumb of today's world
come to the feet of Jesus 

Prayer: Jesus, please give sick people the chance to know your healing love
