 Reading - Reflection - Prayer   Feb 26, 2013
With readers' comments, below

Reading:  Wisdom 3-5

When good people die, they are in God's hands.
Even if they died a tragic death, they are at peace.

A long life is not what makes a person honorable.
Honor is due to anyone of any age who is wise and understanding.

On the other hand, arrogance and misuse of wealth
bring dishonor, in this life and in the next.

Our life is short. We must live it wisely and well.

Reflection:
Old age doesn't necessarily mean wisdom, just as youthfulness doesn't necessarily mean foolishness

Prayer: Heavenly Father, grant that by the gift of the Holy Spirit we may be truly wise...!

Psalm 144

Blessed be the Lord, my rock,
who gives me strength for every situation.

He is my love, my fortress.
He is my stronghold, my savior.

To you, O God, will I sing a new song,
you who so often rescued David your servant.

Happy the people whose God is the Lord.
Please continue to bless your people, Lord.

Let our sons flourish like saplings
grown tall and strong from their youth;

our daughters graceful as columns,
adorned as though for a palace.

Let our crops and stock be blessed.
May there be no sound of weeping on our streets.

Reflection:
A person who loves God is wise.
A
nation which loves God is wise!..."Happy the people whose God is the Lord"

Prayer: Lord, please help me, please help our nation, to be good and wise

Reading:  Acts 2

One afternoon about 3pm, Peter and John went to the Temple for prayer.
A beggar asked them for money. He was crippled from birth

Peter said to him "I don't have any silver or gold.
But I do have something to give you: in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!"

Peter then took him by the hand and helped him to stand up.
Immediately, his feet and ankles became firm and he could walk.
He was so happy he started jumping around. He went into the Temple, praising God

Reflection:
Would that such healings were frequent.
One occasionally hears of such healings, but they are rare.
They should be more frequent.
We need to ask ourselves why they are not frequent

Prayer:  Jesus, there are so many crippled people in the world. Please help them know and experience the healing power of your love

Reading:  Matthew 8

Jesus went to the home of Peter the "fisher of men".
Peter's mother-in-law was sick in bed with a fever.

Jesus touched her hand, and the fever left her.
She got up and began to serve her visitor.

That evening,
many sick people were brought to Peter's home.
Jesus healed them all.

Reflection:
A large part of the Gospels is about healing.
A large part of Christian ministry and life should be about healing.
If it's not, there's something missing

Prayer: Jesus, please heal .....(names)....who are sick
