Readings for February 3, the Fourth Sunday of the Year (C)

First reading:  (The lips of Jesus), THE prophet to the nations, are to speak God's message.....whether it's accepted or not

Responsorial Psalm:  Jesus' lips speak of God's help (... the name "Jesus" means "God saves/helps")

Second reading:  Our lips should be lips of love

Gospel:  The gracious words from Jesus' lips.....are rejected by his listeners

Reflection:
We use "button your lip", "lip-service", "a stiff upper lip", "don't give me any lip", "lick your lips", "my lips are sealed", "read someone's lips", "watch my lips", "on everyone's lips" ......the use of "lips" indicating our speech
Prayer
Jesus, may you be in our hearts and on our lips, so that our speech may always witness to your values, your love
