Readings for January 13, the Feast of the Baptism of Jesus

First reading:  Predicts the coming Servant of the Lord, in whom the Lord is well pleased

Responsorial Psalm:  The voice of the Lord is heard above the waters

Second reading: Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit and with power

Gospel:  You are my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased

Reflection:
After his baptism, Jesus "went about doing good".
After our Baptism, we too must go about doing good.
Christians should be "do-gooders".

This means imitating the kindness and compassion and love of Jesus.
Such generosity is already present in all societies.
Think of the daily sight of people offering their Metro seat to someone in need.

Christians are called to support, encourage and increase such a presence of love,
and through that love help more and more people discover the Source of all love

Prayer:
Jesus, may Christians always give a good example of kindness
