Agenda of "Reform of the Reform" tanks:   no more Communion under both kinds, Latin Mass with priest not facing people, no lay people (except altar boys) on sanctuary,
no altar girls, no special ministers, Communion on tongue while kneeling down, no more deacons, more censorship, more control by Rome, Vatican II teaching undermined

Feast of Christ the King

Miscalculations
David Timbs
(Sunday blogger from Australia)
The Catholic Church may well have compromised itself very badly by being far too closely aligned with the interests of groups morally marginal to its own. The US Bishops  might have done one of the most significant acts of service in the history of that country. Unwittingly, they demystified themselves as astute and prudent moral leaders. They lost credibility and largely came to be seen as a group of men often with over-inflated egos, protective of presumed privilege and motivated by sectional interests. They have demonstrated that all along they have badly miscalculated the level of independence their Catholic constituency has claimed for itself.

After 2012 election, Biblical
Christians will be marginalized

For those interested in Ecumenism
this is a superb article!

Russian-Polish Statement & Vat II
Fr Harry Winter OMI, USA blogger
When Vatican II opened in 1962, there was no participation by any Orthodox bishop; they had turned down the invitation. So Williebrands went to Moscow in early October and personally invited the Russian Orthodox to attend.  He showed up in Rome on the morning of Oct. 11 with two Russian Orthodox bishops in tow, and that broke the deadlock; by the start of the second session, in Sept. 1963, there were a good number of Orthodox observers. John Paul II took apologies to a new level in 2000 when  he cried out “We forgive and we ask forgiveness.”

Mary   Martin Mallon
(Tuesday blogger from Ireland)
Mary, the mother of Jesus, becomes prominent as we approach Advent. She has a major role to play in Advent and is a great witness to us all. Her ability to wait patiently never ceases to amaze, especially in the modern era where no one appears to be able to wait for anything.

Poor art, poor theology
Chris McDonnell
(Wed blogger from UK)
Teaching the Gospel is achieved through the lived example of each Christian person, through the word of Scripture and through the Liturgy we celebrate together. We have a responsibility to ensure that our all strands of our Christian witness are of the highest possible order, intelligible and sound. That of course is the sadness of our short experience of the New Translation. It clunks.

Christ the King
Jesus died preciously because, by proclaiming the kingdom of God, he challenged the political system of his time. If you say, ‘woe to you rich’, and ‘blessed are you poor’, you are undermining the system which is built on inequality; and if you say, ‘love your enemies and do good to those who hate you,’  you are undermining the system which is based on hatred

Mini-reflection - John W:
Last thing at night, after I upload this site's menu for the next day,  I like to briefly look at something to take my mind off all the bad news stuff.
During the Australian football season, I check some football news. Lately, in the off-season, I've been checking Joshua Mountain...Joseph Girzone's daily blogs. They are so beautiful.
May I recommend this practice as a way for the computer to let Jesus have the last say each night

The new translation:
When will we ever learn?
UK blogger Chris McDonnell
My argument concerns both process and outcome. A living language evolves. Usage and circumstance give rise to change and we adapt to the time we live in. We are now presented with a translation that runs counter to such natural progression.
At a time when the age profile of those attending Mass is steadily rising, we are effectively excluding younger generations of English speaking Catholics who will not find archaic phrases supportive of prayer
