Idea for a movie:
"Joy To The World"
A collection of happy stories in
the Gospel...presented with joy and humor
* Zachary in Temple praying for, then getting baby, then dumb etc
* not yet married Mary being asked by angel to have a baby
* Joseph's take on his spouse
getting pregnant
* birth in stable....with animals
* the joyful stories and reactions of some of the many people
healed by Jesus
* Jesus' joyful entry to Jerusalem
* Easter story with joy and humor
etc. DV
someone someday can make such a movie. We need help to see the
underlying joy of the Gospel story. It's not really
evident/appreciated |

Two stories from yesterday
From article
above
by Fr Anthony Ruff OSB
The resolution on the new English missal asserts
that it has “caused disharmony, disruption and discord among
many… frustrating rather than inspiring the Eucharistic prayer
experience of the Christian faithful, thus leading to less piety and
to less ‘full, active and conscious participation’,” and that
it “has created pastoral problems, in particular because of its
cumbersome style, arcane vocabulary, grammatical anomalies, and
confusing syntax.”

Tuesday
July 17
Inconsistent
Methodology
Martin Mallon
(Tuesday blogger from Ireland)
It would appear that Pope Benedict will continue to use the hermeneutic of
continuity to interpret the teachings of Vatican II while using
“definitive” teachings to halt debate on disputed points of theology,
such as ordaining women priests. The fact that the idea of
“definitive” teachings is in conflict with the hermeneutic of
continuity is not a problem, apparently.
We are left in the inconsistent situation where the hermeneutic of
discontinuity may not be used to interpret the teachings of Vatican II,
but may be used to endorse “definitive” teachings.

have photographs, video and commentary on our website from the
conclusion of the ceremony tomorrow afternoon. An
extensive coverage of the ordination will feature in Chronicle on
Thursday"
John W's comment:
My heart goes out to Bishop Bill
Morris. Imagine how he is feeling today. He must be feeling like a
devoted husband whose loving wife has been snatched from him and
is today being married, against her will, to another. An invalid
marriage! History will show that Bill's removal from Toowoomba was a
great act of injustice. Some day he will be vindicated, just like
Mary MacKillop. In the light of numbers 1-10 below, those
(freely) taking part in today's ceremony should feel most
uncomfortable. By their presence they are saying yes to an act of
injustice. Blessings on the people of principle who boycott
today's ceremony. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for
justice. "Lest we
forget" |

Couldn’t agree more with you on the exclusion of deacons from the Anointing of the Sick. As for the ‘forgiveness of sins’ business, it is clear that the liturgists and gatekeepers of the Sacraments have no idea what the Penitential Rite at Mass is all about. If they made the connection there and also read a bit of the history of the Sacraments then they would see
Anointing goes back to a very liberality in past, especially early, ecclesial practice and not at all clerical.
